“You, God, are my God,
earnestly I seek you;
I thirst for you,
My whole being longs for you,
in a dry and parched land
where there is no water.” Psalm 63:1
I see myself walking through the desert,
dead branches cut away, fruitful branches pruned.
Yet I have peace.
Stripped down to the root,
I know I am still protected.
He wants me to know He is my sufficiency.
So I keep walking.
I am thirsty but no longer satisfied by the trappings of the world.
There is an oasis ahead waiting for me,
a watering place, a place of refreshment.
I want to reach it, so I keep moving forward.
I want to be submerged in it.
It’s as though I’m going back into the womb,
and my umbilical cord is the Spirit.
I know I will emerge forever changed.
Father God, keep me on this path.
Show me how to get there.
I want to know you more intimately.
You have taken me away for yourself.
This I know is true. Have your way in me. Amen.
“I have seen you in your sanctuary
and beheld your power and your glory.
Because your love is better than life,
my lips will glorify you.
I will be satisfied as with the richest of foods.
With singing lips my mouth will praise you.”
